Cloud-Based Hospital Management System
Manages patient records, appointments, and billing for a small hospital, hosted in the cloud.
A small hospital runs on registers and spreadsheets: a receptionist cannot see a doctor's free slots, a doctor cannot see a patient's earlier visits and the billing desk re-types what the ward has already written. The result is double bookings, lost history and billing disputes. This project builds a cloud-based hospital management system with a single record for every patient.
The system has three roles. Patients register, book and cancel appointments, and see prescriptions and bills. Doctors see their schedule, record diagnoses and prescriptions, and read a patient's history. Administrators manage departments, doctors, tariffs and reports. The back end is a layered Java Spring Boot service using JPA with a MySQL database, secured with JSON Web Tokens and role-based access, so that patient data is visible only to the treating doctor and the patient. A database constraint on doctor, date and time guarantees that a slot can never be booked twice, even under simultaneous requests. The billing module builds an itemized bill from consultations, procedures and pharmacy items. The service is packaged in Docker and deployed on AWS behind a load balancer with backups and monitoring, and load tests measure its response times.
You will learn layered architecture, database design, security and cloud deployment. The Project Reference Guide documents each module, and the Reference Implementation provides the code, database scripts and deployment steps.
