Online Food Ordering System with Role-Based Access
A full-stack food ordering platform with separate customer, restaurant, and admin roles.
Small restaurants often take orders by phone, which leads to misheard items, long waits and no record of what sells. Customers cannot see the menu or track their order, and owners cannot easily see which dishes are popular. This project builds a full-stack online food ordering platform with separate roles for customers, restaurants and administrators, and it is a good first full-stack project.
The React front end lets customers register, browse menus by category, add items to a cart, check out and follow their order status. The Express API on Node.js exposes REST endpoints protected by JSON Web Tokens and role checks, so each role can reach only its own screens and data. MongoDB stores users, restaurants, menu items and orders, and an order keeps a snapshot of item names and prices so that later menu changes never alter past orders. The server always recalculates the total from current prices, so a customer cannot tamper with them. Status changes such as accepted, preparing and delivered are pushed to the customer through WebSockets. The restaurant dashboard shows incoming orders and reports such as orders per day and the most ordered dishes. Administrators approve restaurants and view platform reports.
