Campus Event Management Android App

An Android app for students to discover, register for, and get reminders about campus events.

KotlinAndroid SDKFirebase

Campus events are announced on notice boards and in group chats, so students regularly miss workshops, contests and club meetings they would have enjoyed, while organizers cannot tell how many people will attend. This project builds a native Android app in which students discover, register for and are reminded about events, and organizers can post and manage them.

The app is written in Kotlin using the Android SDK with an MVVM structure and Jetpack Compose screens. Firebase Authentication signs users in with their college email, and Cloud Firestore stores events, registrations and profiles, with security rules so that a student can change only their own registration and only an event's organizer can edit it. Students browse upcoming events by category and date, register or cancel in one tap and receive reminders through Firebase Cloud Messaging before the event. Organizers use a posting flow to create events, upload a poster, set a capacity and view a live attendee list. Offline persistence keeps previously loaded events visible without a connection. The project tests the app on low-end devices and measures how quickly users can register.

You will learn Android development, Firebase services, push notifications and secure data rules. The Project Reference Guide explains the design and testing, and the Reference Implementation provides the complete Android project with set-up steps.
