Expense Tracker App with Cloud Sync
A personal finance tracker that syncs expenses across devices with spending insights.
Most people do not know where their money goes each month, and tracking expenses in a notebook or a spreadsheet is easy to abandon. An app helps only if it is quick to use, works without an internet connection and keeps the data safe across a phone and a tablet. This project builds a personal expense tracker with cloud sync and spending insights.
The app is built with Flutter and Dart, so one code base runs on Android and iOS. Expenses are first saved in a local database on the device, so entering one takes seconds even when offline. When a connection is available, changes are synchronized with Firebase, and the project explains how to resolve conflicts, for example when the same expense is edited on two devices. Users sign in with Firebase Authentication so that their data stays private. Expenses are grouped into categories, and the app shows charts of spending by category and by month, compares it with a budget the user sets and warns when a budget is close to being exceeded. The project also covers exporting data and simple recurring expenses such as rent.
You will learn cross-platform development, offline-first design, cloud synchronization and charting. The Project Reference Guide documents the architecture, and the Reference Implementation contains the Flutter project and set-up steps.
